The Birth of Musique Concrète, part one

I guess I first heard the term “Musique Concrète” when reading and watching videos about The BBC Radiophonic Workshop in my quest to learn about the origins of experimental electronic music. I thought I had a pretty good handle on what that meant – using tape to turn sound into a physical (concrete) form, and […]

Still here!

Hey FLON fans, I sort of took an inadvertent hiatus from publishing for a spell, but I wanted to let you know I haven’t quit. I’ll hopefully be posting an interview or two in the next month or so, here and hopefully at my soon-to-be-live sibling site atmospheresandexperiments.com. The new site will present music of […]

Interview with Uladat

FLON: Hi. So first I’d like to ask about the prevalence of Cumbia beats in your work. Though common in a lot of different sounding music from a lot of places in the world, I first found it odd in your kind of atmospheric experimental music. (Maybe that’s just because I’m American and backbeats and […]

Interview With Blake DeGraw

FLON: So, you have a new EP coming out on vinyl that’s all inspired by Phillip K. Dick stories. What about his work inspires you and how did you decide to represent it musically? BLAKE: Well it’s actually crossed the 50-minute threshold in its current form, so I guess we’re out of EP territory. And […]

Meng Qi

您可以在以下地址了解更多关于孟奇的合成器和音乐: mengqimusic.com YouTube mengqi.bandcamp.com

Frank Meadows Interview

FLON: Let’s talk first about Currence, an album with an accompanying book. What led you to this concept, and how do the two mediums inform eachother?  Frank: That release was one of a string of book-digital download releases coordinated by my partners and close pals at Cairn Desk. Most of my life as a music consumer I’ve […]
